Honest answers
Questions families ask.
Plain answers to the questions families ask us most. If yours is not here, call us - every conversation is confidential.
How do I know if it is addiction?+
When drinking or using stops feeling like a choice - when it starts deciding how the day goes, what gets done and who gets hurt. Other signs: needing more for the same effect, trying to stop and not being able to, and hiding the habit from people who love you.
If you are asking the question, it is worth a conversation. Call us on +91 98453 10070 - it is confidential, and it costs nothing.
Do you treat both alcohol and drug addiction?+
Yes. Treatment at Kripa runs on two dedicated tracks - alcohol de-addiction and drug de-addiction - each with its own medical care, counselling and recovery plan. Many residents arrive with more than one substance involved; the plan is shaped around the person, not the label.
Is treatment confidential?+
Completely. Everything a resident or family shares stays with the care team. We speak to employers, relatives or anyone else only when the resident or family asks us to. Seeking help is a private matter, and we keep it that way.
How long does treatment take?+
The residential programme is a structured four-month journey that moves through four phases - from settling in and medical stabilisation, through therapy and 12-Step work, to relapse prevention and preparing for life outside. Recovery does not end at discharge; aftercare and follow-up support continue afterwards.
What does a day at Kripa look like?+
Days follow a steady routine: individual and group therapy, 12-Step meetings of AA and NA, meditation, meals and rest, shared with a community of people working towards the same goal. Structure is part of the medicine - life inside is calm, supervised and purposeful.
Can the family be involved?+
Families are part of treatment, not spectators. There is family counselling and education to help everyone understand addiction, mediated sessions to rebuild trust, and practical guidance for life after the programme. Addiction affects the whole home; recovery should too.
What if the person refuses help?+
This is more common than not, and families do not have to face it alone. A planned conversation - an intervention - can help the person accept treatment. Some approaches are direct, with family and friends coming together; some are gentler, staged at home; some rely on firm, loving boundaries. What matters is that it is prepared, calm and unified.
Call us on +91 98453 10070 before you attempt one. Our team has guided many families through this first, hardest step.
What happens after the programme ends?+
Leaving is a beginning, not an ending. Discharge comes with a relapse-prevention plan, follow-up counselling and connection to the AA and NA fellowship, so no one walks back into everyday life unsupported.
How do we begin?+
With a phone call. Tell us what is happening, and we will explain admission, what to bring and what the first days look like. You can also write to info@kriparevivalcentre.org or message us on WhatsApp. We answer 24 hours a day, every day of the year.
